Environmental Education
Cabarrus County Soil and Water Conservation District provides various educational programs including: Career Fairs, Conservation Field Days, Environmental Education for Educators, Land Judging Career Development Event, National Wildlife Week, North Carolina Big Sweep Waterway Cleanup, Project Tommorrow Grants, Soil and Water Stewardship Week and Teacher of the Year.
Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District also administers two main conservation programs that offer both financial and technical assistance: the North Carolina Agriculture Cost Share Program and the North Carolina Community Conservation Assistance Program.
Throughout the year, Cabarrus County Soil and Conservation District encourages and assists participants in a variety of educational contests including: Envirothon, Essay Contest, Poster Contest and Public Speaking Contest.
Cabarrus County Soil and Water Conservation District participates in the Annual Resource Conservation Workshop in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Workshop is a week of intensive study requiring focused student participation in a wide range of conservation topics. The workshop is for rising juniors and seniors on the North Carolina State University campus. Classroom and field trips settings are used to discuss rural and urban conservation.
