Office Hours

The Register of Deeds office is open to the general public during the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday excluding holidays observed at the direction of the Board of Commissioners. You should arrive early enough to conclude your visit by 5:00 pm. In 1997, the Board of Commissioners passed a resolution to stop recording documents at 4:30 pm. Effective May 1, 2007, marriage licenses will be issued from 8 am until 4:30 pm only.

It is best if you personally visit the office. However, if you cannot, you may obtain certain information over the phone by calling 704-920-2112.

The Register of Deeds office is a recording agency only and therefore the information it gives out is limited. Some types of information requested of the Register of Deeds office can only be answered by an attorney, therefore it is not feasible to have certain information provided by one who is not an attorney.
