Cabarrus County Hazard Mitigation Plan
Revision of Cabarrus County Hazard Mitigation Plan
There will be an initial public hearing on the revision to the Cabarrus County Hazard Mitigation Plan on Monday, November 30, 2009 at the Governmental Center. The hearing will he held in the Multi–Purpose Room and will begin at 6:30 PM. This hearing is to solicit input pertaining to known or perceived natural hazards within Cabarrus County and the current hazard mitigation plan.
The existing plan evaluated the hazards in the county and established hazard mitigation practices to address these hazards. North Carolina law requires each county to have a hazard mitigation plan. Adoption of the plan qualified county residents to apply for assistance following natural disasters. The current plan is available for review online at the Cabarrus County website: www.cabarruscounty.us/EMgmt/hazardmitigation.html
The public is invited to participate in the hearing. Neighboring communities, agencies, businesses, academia, non–profit organizations, and other interested groups are especially invited. Any questions concerning this hearing should be forwarded to the Cabarrus County Emergency Management Department at 704-920-2143.
