CABARRUS SENIOR GAMES
Cabarrus Senior Games began as part of North Carolina Senior Games, Inc. in 1985 – a statewide health and wellness promotion and education program for adults 55 years of age and older. For over 20 years, our older adults have been walking, running, throwing, pitching, swimming and swinging – drawing, knitting, weaving, painting, and writing – their way to better physical and mental health. There is also a National Senior Games known as the Senior Olympics.
Held each year in the spring, Cabarrus Senior Games offers competition in a wide variety of sports, events and the arts. All residents of Cabarrus County, age 55 and older, are eligible to participate (minimum of three consecutive months residency). Individuals are 55 and under, from outside of Cabarrus County are eligible to participate if they are actively participating in Senior Center programming throughout the year (average of three programs/events per month).
Cabarrus Senior Games is a sanctioned program of North Carolina Senior Games, Inc. and is coordinated by the Cabarrus County Senior Center, the City of Concord Parks & Recreation Department, Cabarrus County Parks Department, Harrisburg Parks & Recreation Department and the Cabarrus County Council on Aging.
To join the “Senior Games Family” as a participant, volunteer, sponsor or spectator, call 704-920-3484.
